Chopstick Nation

I was invited to participate at the Annual Longhouse Food revival in Berne, New York to make my dumplings.  This year’s theme was chopsticks nation, Chinese food.

It was quite an experience for this Chinatown boy.  Being in a very rural area of upstate New York and not another Chinese for miles around.

Not only was I to make dumplings But to paint the dumpling shack made especially for me.  

I arrived a few days before the event to paint the shack.  It rained but I had to paint no matter what.

I completed the shack by the skin of my ass and immediately began working on the food preparation.  Luckily I was able to get most of the ingredients I needed.

I thought I was going to make all those dumplings by myself but the Junzi Kitchen people and the hand pulled noodle guy….were really Helpful.  

Unfortunately it rained when the event was going on.

We wound up making dumplings in the barn.

After the Chopstick Nation event at upstate New York, I wound up in New York City for six days.  The last time I was here was in 1976.

It’s interesting how I snapped into place as soon as I hit Chinatown.
